While orange and coffee sounds a bit… mental… it is actually a thing! I tried it out with an Espresso Martini and I was pretty into it! I’m going to give you two ways to make it, just in case you don’t have access to the same ingredients I do.
Orange Espresso Martini
1 oz Espresso (I used a melted Cometeer pod, I am working with them at the the moment and I LOVE their approach to coffee bean delivery, check them out)
1 oz Kahlua
1.5 oz Madison Park Orange Breakfast Gin
0.3 oz brown sugar syrup (optional, but I recommend)
Shake vigorously over ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a dehydrated orange slice and three coffee beans.
ALTERNATIVELY:
1 oz Espresso
1 oz Kahlua
1.5 oz vodka, gin, whisky, OR brandy - basically your spirit of choice
0.3 oz orange syrup*
Shake vigorously over ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a dehydrated orange slice and three coffee beans.
To make Orange Syrup (batch of around 15 servings):
Peel three oranges and cover the peel, in a small bowl, with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Leave for 12+ hours. Add the mixture to a jug with 1 1/2 cups of boiling water and 1 cup of sugar. Stir, then strain and chill. It sounds like effort but having a pre-batched cocktail syrup on hand is always a good idea!
